Gwynt y Môr Wind Farm, 2014. Commodore P was contracted to assist the cable laying vessel Sia. The manoeuvrability of the OTS vessels Commander P and Cardinal P had proved very successful when working with Sia on West of Duddon Sands in the autumn of 2013 and CT Offshore selected the same vessel type again.
Operating from the port of Liverpool, Commodore P assisted Sia with crew transfers, worked as an ROV platform and assisted the cable termination teams by transferring the heaving line from Sia to the transition piece. Having water jets rather than propellers alleviates some of the concerns about catching a line on the prop and also gives the vessel great manoeuvrability without the need for bow-thrusters.
